Lesson outline for June 12, 2025
Created For A Purpose
We know from God’s word we were created to glorify, worship, commune, praise God.
Tonight, let’s look specifically about what God says about our God given individual purpose.
Do you believe you were created for a purpose?
What is the purpose of a mechanic, farmer, pilot, medical doctor, architect, soldier, priest, provider, protector, prophet? Were they trained, tested, approved?
- Have you ever written or drafted a plan of any type? Plan to build a house, go on a road trip, go school and get a degree?
- Did you plan go exactly as you thought / wrote it? Why or Why not?
- In the military we had a few sayings about a plan/planning, two are below
- No plan survives first contact with the enemy
- Shape your environment, or it will shape you
The enemy has made more than a “first contact” with us regarding God’s plan for our lives
Assignments and missions were successful due to – leadership, followership, detailed planning, exercises and training, correction, teamwork and unity, sacrifice, obedience – we shaped our environment and were “overcomers” when the enemy made contact with us – the same is true against our spiritual enemy, “but not by my might or strength, but by the Spirit of the LORD.”

Many have accomplished their God given plans with interruptions, contacts made by the enemy – and God used the interruptions to mature them. I am reminded of Rom 8:28 – look for those below who loved God and were called according to His purposes, and those who chose not to love God and follow His calling for them.
Can you name any men from God’s word who by their own choice, or other’s choices were not aligned with God’s plan by their own decisions? Consider the following – Abraham, Moses, Joshua, King Saul, King David, King Soloman, King Jeroboam and Rehoboam, Jonah, the rich young ruler, Paul the apostle – any others?
Your Life is Not Without Purpose
Our life and purpose are woven into God’s story – His Story – history
Jer 1:5-8 ESV “5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew (#H3045 “yada” – to know, make known, be known) you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.”
- God put His gift in Jeremiah before he was born
- All humans are born with a gift from Father God (Rom 12:3-8) – I will cover more on gifts from God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at a later teaching
Psa 139:13-18 ESV – “13 For you formed (#H7069) my inward parts (#H3629 “kilya”- organs); you knitted me together (#H5526 “sakak”- weave together bone and sinew) in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (#H6395 “pala” – distinct, wonderful, illustrious). Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame (#H6108 “osem” – bones, might) was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance (#H1564); in your book (#H5612) were written, every one of them, the days (#H3117 “yom” day, time, year, lifespan) that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.”
Eph 2:10 ESV “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk (#G4043 “peripateo” to make one’s way, to pass one’s life, standard that governs our life) in them.”
2 Tim 1:9 ESV “who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works (#G2041 “ergon”- acts, business, undertakings, products, not approved by God) but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,”
- God knew you and had His plan for you before you were born; you and I are always in His thoughts
- We are the most miraculous creation of God.
- Our life begins at conception, and He prepared a way for you to walk in, a path for your life
- We see God’s imprint put on us (DNA) our biometrics, our organs, bones, might/will, our soul
- Success in our purpose and plan is directly linked to being in God’s will; God’s will always includes obedience
- What was David’s purpose? He became king after how long? What was the purpose of David becoming king?
- The son of Jesse was – a shepherd, soldier of the most special kind, a hero, a poet, a king and a scientist – born of meager beginnings
- What was David known for? A man after __________ heart. And, how did he get there?
- We like David have a book written specifically about us; our purpose is written in it, along with all our choices and decisions – it is still being written!!!
- God knows each one of us is individually, considers us precious (weighty like gold). Look at David’s use of words regarding God thinking about us, “more than the sand.”
Action Required
God is not going to steer a parked car
Jer 29:11-13 ESV “11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares (#H5002 “neum” spoke, uttered) the LORD, plans for welfare (#H7965) and not for evil, to give you a future (#H319 “aharit” – the ultimate issue of a course of action; good ending at the end of life; withheld from the wicked) and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
- Are you calling on God to move in your purpose?
Isa 43:7 ESV – “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created (#H1254 “bara” create, birth, polish, refine an individual man, for divine activity) for my glory, whom I formed (#H3335) and made.” (#H6213 “asa” – to accomplish, to be used, to produce, yield fruit)
- Do we focus on our present, our circumstances; or move forward for the “ultimate issue of a course of action”? Focus on the finish – finish well!
- Meeting the assignments and plan for your life requires daily action, daily movement – while keeping the vision God has given you present in your mind.
- Remember what was mentioned about mechanics, plumbers, medical doctors, soldiers, pilots, farmers, architects, etc – accomplished day-by-day, not giving up, recovering from set-backs, pressing forward, a life-long learner; always mindful of the finish– it is even more for the “man of God”
- We can’t complete or accomplish something without action.
- We have a BIG part in God plan for our life; a covenant relationship
- Something to be performed through a covenant relationship
What keeps us from accomplishing our plan / purpose
Prov 16:3-4, 9 ESV “3 Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established. 4 The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. … 9 The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.”
Prov 19:21 ESV “Many are the plans (#H4284 “mahasaba” – plan or purpose) in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose (#H698 “esa”- counsel, advice, plan) of the LORD that will stand (#H6965 “qum”- be fulfilled).”
James 4:6-8 ESV “6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
Luke 4:43 ESV “but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.”
- Accomplishing our plan requires a covenantal relationship, not religion – He directs us, protects us, teaches us, anoints us, promotes us, gives more assignments – submission
- The enemy will resist God’s plan for your life – probing, assaulting, trying to deceive
- Our God given purposes will be accomplished through submission – not a poplar word/term
- We are given one life, and talents to serve God and accomplish the plans He created us for
Matt 25:15 ESV “To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.”
- In Matt 26 – we see again, what submitting to God looks like. The Son, submits to His Father’s will in the Garden of Gethsemane
Final thoughts
- God has a purpose for your life, He knew it before you were conceived
- Accomplishing God’s plans and purposes for your life requires being in His will for you
- Accomplishing God’s purposes requires covenantal relationship with God. A son does not know the father’s will without relationship
- Action is required for you to accomplish your God given purposes and plans
- God has given you gifts to accomplish your life’s assignments – more on this later
- Faith is the currency of heaven, start making transactions to accomplish your purposes
- Satan and his kingdom forces want to hijack you and your purpose, and twist and confuse you
- You are only given one life
Satan owns the fence – you choose who you are going to serve
