Soul Bonds and Yoking
Do you have soul ties / bonds?
Goal – Introduce and provide a basic understanding of soul ties and yoking
- Have you heard the term soul tie, or soul bond?
- Do you have any soul ties with anyone, or thing?
- Do you think we can have both Godly and ungodly soul ties simultaneously?
- What is an unequally yoked relationship?

Hebrew and Greek Terms / Definitions
- Knitted – #H7194 “qasar” bind together, bind oneself, tie, conspire
- Fellowship – #G2842 “koinonia” deep intimacy, communion with, share with
- Yoke – #G2218 “zygos” used on the neck of a draft animal for joining together, burden or bondage, balance or scales
- Partnership– #G3352 – “metoche” a sharing, communion and fellowship
- Joined together – #G4801 “syzeugnymi” fasten to one yoke; joined together
- Yoke – Merriam-Webster – a wooden bar or frame by which two draft animals (such as oxen) are joined at the heads or necks for working together; an arched device formerly laid on the neck of a defeated person

Soul Bond/Tie (aka relationship bond)
Think of relationship bond
Soul Bond / Tie – A spiritual connection between two individuals or one individual and someone or something else. They are an emotional connection and are both spiritual and soulish.
Synonymous with soul – bond, bridge, tie; souls knitted together, one flesh, relationship bond, one flesh relationship, yoked together
Secular terms – soulmates, emotionally attached, gave my heart to.., twin-flames, attachment (psychology terms – parent-child attachment, attachment disorder, etc)
Godly Bonds / Ties
Honor God; are God ordained and demonstrate sacrifice and selflessness
1 Sam 14:6-7 ESV – “6 Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few.” 7 And his armor-bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Do as you wish. Behold, I am with you heart and soul.“”
1 Sam 18:1 ESV – “As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.”
Matt 19:4-6 ESV – “4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.””
- Godly bonds honor God
- Godly soul bonds are a “bridges” for blessings to pass / cross
- Godly soul bonds demonstrate Godly love and sacrifice
- Jonathan was willing to sacrifice what?
- Jesus quoted Gen 2:24 – As He was present at creation!
- Family relationships – parent/child, grandparent/child, sister and brother
- Marriage relationships
- Ministry and Godly friendships, Godly business partners, mentors
- Spiritual “DNA” – Blessings, Holy Spirit physical healing, inner healing, impartations, deliverance
- Soulish “DNA” – Godly emotions / state – peace, joy, love, kindness, mind of Christ, Godly thinking patterns, etc.
- Relationships where both parties are submitted to Jesus Christ
Ungodly soul or relationship bonds / ties (UST)
Gen 34:1-3 ESV – “1 Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the women of the land. 2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he seized her and lay with herand humiliated her. 3 And his soul was drawn to Dinah the daughter of Jacob. He loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her.”
1 Cor 6:16 ESV – “Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.””
- Ungodly bonds dishonor God and His commands
- Are founded on sin; thus it’s a sinful relationship
- Three pathways of – do sin together, do evil against each other (reciprocating evil), do evil against each other
- Motivated by personal agenda and pleasure – manipulative relationships (ungodly control)
- What is the greatest commandment (Matt 22:36-40)
- Are a bridge for curses and evil
- Spiritual “DNA” – bridge for curses, evil and demonic transfer
- Soulish “DNA” – ungodly emotions, ungodly thinking patterns, ungodly beliefs (we start believing like the one we are tied to)
Simultaneous Godly and ungodly soul bonds / ties
We can have both and at the same time
Examples:
- Marriage – Godly soul tie (GST) of marriage, GST of parenting, but they watch porn together ungodly soul tie (UST) of sexual perversion (defiling the marriage bed); commit a crime together UST
- Family Relationships – Parent/child always GST, but can have UST? What are a few you can think of?
- Ministry – GST and can have USTs too. – Pastor or leader does ungodly manipulation – “if you leave my church or leadership you will not be blessed.., your finances will suffer, and even worse.
- Business (including military or organizational) and Friendships
Yoking
Yoking is akin to a binding agreement; a spiritual binding – a binding of two parties
Business contracts are binding; going into business with unbelievers can be fraught with issues. Why?
Marriage is a spiritual binding contract and covenant; whether conducted by an unbeliever or Christian. A “justice of the peace” marriage is a spiritually binding contract. The closest relationship we have on earth is marriage.
Matt 11:28-30 ESV – “28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Gen 2:24 ESV – “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
- How is Jesus’s yoke light for us? He takes our load
- Consider – “labor” is what we put on ourselves; “heavy laden” is what others put on us
- When we submit to Jesus and He takes our load / burdens; we share with Him – He takes our burden and we submit to Him receiving REST for our souls
Equally Yoked
Fellowship, accord and communion (FAC)
Act 16:16 ESV – “As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination (python) and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling.”
- The women was yoked and had a soul tie – with her familiar spirit
- She was in fellowship, accord and communion with the python spirit
- Connects two partners working together, or a team
- What happens when one is not in the same fellowship, accord or communion in business, organizational values, marriage
- What happens on a team with one member is not in FAC
- Two criminals can be in FAC
- Unbelievers are automatically equally yoked to demons
Unequally Yoked
We can be unequally yoked, but there will be discord
2 Cor 6:14-16 ESV “14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership (metoche) has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 What accord has Christ with Belial (satan, worthless, wicked)? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
- What is Paul referring to in these verses?
- Binding relationships – pagan / worldly ruled by Satan vs Godly; Christians are not to be intwined in ungodly relationships
- It is common for unequal yoking in relationships; and for two unequal things to be yoked together
- Christians can be both equally yoked or unequally yoked with a demon – willfully or out of ignorance
Six Signs of an Ungodly Soul-Tie
- Unhealthy attachment with a person – Jacob and Benjamin (see Gen 42 and 44 below)
- Obsession with a person – 1) in authority; 2) previous relationship
- Take on traits of a person – 1) defend their bad habits, sins, problems; keep objects of theirs
- Remain in an abusive relationship
- Recurring dreams, thoughts and fantasies
- Keep objects from past relationships
Last thoughts and considerations
- Godly soul bonds are to be kept; UST’s are to be broken and renounced
- Soul ties allow transfer of soulish and spiritual “DNA”
- Can have varying intensity depending on relationship – frequency of interaction, righteousness or sin component,
- God desires to restore our souls; to heal the broken parts of our heart
- Ungodly soul-ties are another form of bondage
- What we wrongly possess can be broken

Gen 42:38 ESV – “But he (Jacob) said, “My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he is the only one left. If harm should happen to him on the journey that you are to make, you would bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
Gen 44:29 ESV – “If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs in evil to Sheol.’” (ungodly soul bond)
2 Sam 20:2 ESV – “So all the men of Israel withdrew from David and followed Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah followed their king steadfastly from the Jordan to Jerusalem.” (Godly soul bond)
Col 2:1-2 ESV – “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ…,” (Godly soul tie)
2 Cor 12:1-3 ESV – “1 I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man was caught up into paradise–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows—” (refers to soul travel)
Eze 8:1-6 ESV – “1 In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me there. 2 Then I looked, and behold, a form that had the appearance of a man. Below what appeared to be his waist was fire, and above his waist was something like the appearance of brightness, like gleaming metal. 3 He put out the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head, and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the gateway of the inner court that faces north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy. 4 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, like the vision that I saw in the valley. 5 Then he said to me, “Son of man, lift up your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, north of the altar gate, in the entrance, was this image of jealousy. 6 And he said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel are committing here, to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see still greater abominations.” (refers to soul travel)
Rev 4:1-6 ESV – “1 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. 3 And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, 6 and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind:” (refers to soul travel)
