Goal – To know what our “enemy” doesn’t want you to know

Hebrew and Greek Terms / Definitions
- Demonized – #G1139 “daimonizomai” under the power or influence of a demon; demonized (Rom 3:9,23; 5:12,13; 9:2-3)
- Daimon – “G1142 god or goddess, inferior deity; in the NT evil spirit
- Jailers #G930 “basanistēs” – one who elicits the truth, a torturer; Root word #G928 “basanizo” – to torment, torture, harass, distress
Satanic Thinking Patterns (STP) – continuously held belief, thought or attitude contrary to God’s word, truth, instructions, guidance, character and promises – STPs are always ungodly strongholds (Advance Freedom Ministry definition)

Spiritual Laws and Order
God requires order and has put laws in place which govern both the natural and spiritual realms. Those “spiritual laws” apply to all humans and spiritual beings – whether you agree or not
Orders and Laws – No Chaos Allowed
God has put all things in place to operate under His laws. We see this in the natural world with the “scientific and natural laws” put in place holding all things together – matter, gravity, motion, all life on earth.
“1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. … 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” … 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.” (Gen 1:1-2, 27-28, 31 ESV)
Paul reinforces – Jesus is who put all things in order and holds it all together
“16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Col 1:16-17 ESV)
Spiritual Laws
The spiritual realm operates by spiritual laws. Satan and his forces aren’t permitted to do as they please. Here’s a few examples,
Job – Satan had to request permission, and permission was specific
“6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. … 10 Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. … 12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.”(Job 1:6, 10, 12 ESV)
Peter – Satan is granted permission by Jesus Christ to sift Peter; “demanded” (exaiteō) is a legal term to torture or pardon; Jesus interceded on Peter’s behalf; when Peter “turned again” (reformed, turn away from) repented. The name Satan is actually a legal term meaning one who brings an accusation.
“31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.“” (Luke 22:31-33 ESV)
Paul – states it clearly. A Christian can be demonized – this includes “indwelling” (indwelling does not mean possessed).
“…, Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. (2 Cor 12:7-8 NIV)
Ignorance and Deception
“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting” Sun Tzu
Our enemy is not ignorant of God’s spiritual laws; he knows them better than us. Paul warns Christians not to be deceived or ignorant of our enemy.
“…, so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.” (2 Cor 2:11 ESV)
Does your battle feel like hand-to-hand combat
Paul writes and tells Christians to be strong and put on spiritual armor after Jesus Christ resurrected. This is after Jesus stated, “It is finished” (John 19:30)
Our battlefield
Our battle is real and can seem like hand-to-hand combat
“11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6:11-12 ESV)

Abundant Life
Remember Genesis 1 – 2 God put all things in order and gave us an abundant life. Then the enemy deceived man.
Jesus Christ tells us Satan’s mission since he was cast to earth, and one of the reasons Jesus came to earth. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
This is reinforced by John the Apostle to born-again believers
“4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. … 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:4, 8 ESV)
Chaos is not abundant life – Chaos is confusion, darkness, disorder and misery.
Consider the following for a couple of minutes and see if any apply in your life or generations.
Patterns / struggles – accidents, addictions, abuse (all forms), depression, heaviness, anxiety, unreasonable emotional triggers, fear, rejection, unforgiveness, bitterness, anger / rage outbursts, isolation, loneliness, constant relationship strife, patterns of divorce, lust, adultery, sexual immorality, illegitimate children, worthlessness, come to nothing, pride, rebellion, shame, criminal activity, performance acceptance, early death, suicide, self-harm, mental illness, ungodly plaguing thoughts, pride, self-righteousness, unexplainable sickness; While sleeping sensations of heaviness, paralysis or choking, torment and nightmares, continued sexual dreams, etc
Is the below what abundant life looks like? How much would you pay for peace and joy?
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Gal 5:22-23 ESV)
Deliverance is for God’s Children
God is sovereign and delivers people as He pleases.
We see throughout the Old Testament and in the New Testament both; and, with Jesus and His disciples as they ministered.
- We know Jesus first instructed His disciples to not deliver and heal Gentiles (Matt 10:1-15)
- Later Jesus sent out 72 disciples to heal and deliver Jew and Gentile (Luke 10:1-20)
For both Jews and Gentiles – their faith moved Jesus and He healed them
- Syrophoenician Woman (Mark 7:24-30) and Demoniac of Gadarenes. (Luke 8: 26-39)
Why His Children?
Because Jesus Christ doesn’t want us to be worse off than before; let’s look below as He explains,
“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.“ (Matt 12:43-45 ESV)
When a place in our soul or body is void of the demon, it must be filled with the Holy Spirit
Demonized vs Possessed
Understanding the word / term “possessed” vs “demonized” in the Bible’s New Testament
The ancient Greek manuscripts and earliest translations of the Bible did not use the word “possessed.” The word “demonized” or “under the power of a demon” was used and can be referenced in 4th century ancient Greek of the Codex Sinaiticus; and the Wycliffe Bible (1392-1395). The KJV (published 1611), the English Tyndale Bible was published in 1535 and use the word “possessed,” and so does the Geneva Bible of 1560. (The Children’s Bread and the Debate of Whether a Christan Can Have a Demon 2nd Edition, Mark Chase, Parables Publisher, Nov 2021)
This translation and misuse of the word from “demonized” to “possessed” or “possessed by a demon” causes controversy and confusion as religious dogma and doctrine takes front and center over the freedom Jesus Christ has provided, promised and commanded – for Christians too.
So, to recap, the word “possession” was not used in the ancient Greek manuscripts for demonization, but it was what the Tyndale and KJV translators used in their Bible translations, so it stuck, and most people don’t know or even think about these types of Bible items. Lastly, many of the notes and commentaries were integrated well after the late 1700s, such as Darby’s in 1867, 1872, 1884 and 1890; and Schofield Bible was published in 1907, 1917 and 1967 with changes and commentary notes that are not aligned with Hebrew and Greek. Another reason to study the text and its origin and ask Holy Spirit for revelation.
“And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed (daimonizomai / demonized) men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way.” (Matt 8:28 ESV)
Unforgiveness – A Common Barrier to Deliverance and Healing
Law of Forgiveness
- Forgiveness is a command. Forgiveness is a one-way transaction. Forgiveness is JUST, not fair. Forgiveness is a legal transaction, a decision, it’s not an emotion (I’m sorry).
- Forgiveness is not saying – What they did was ok; that it did not hurt; you pretend it didn’t happen; you can’t have healthy boundaries
Sermon on the Mount
“12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matt 6:12-15 ESV)
Jesus teaches again – not at the Sermon on the Mount
“1 Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And He said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread, 4 and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.“ (Luke 11:1-4 ESV)
And again; Conditional – If you.., so that
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.“ (Mark 11:25 NIV)
“9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self,which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator…, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving (G#5483 “charizomai” pardon, grant forgiveness) each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” (Col 3:9, 10, 13)
Again, Jesus teaches on forgiveness and anger – using Legal Terms
“Come to terms quickly with your accuser (legal term for Satan/adversary), while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard to be put in prison…, you will never get out until you paid the last penny.” (Matt 5:25-26)
Matt 18:21 – 35 – Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
“34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.” (Matt 18:34-35 ESV)

Forgiveness Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, I confess I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. I put my trust in You alone for my salvation. Your precious blood covers my sin. I claim the freedom You promised from sin and torment.
Holy Spirit reveal to me any spiritual root associated with my unforgiveness, including any infirmity or pain associated with my sin of unforgiveness.
I confess my unforgiveness and choose to forgive all those who hurt me. I cancel their debt against me. I confess my unforgiveness towards___________________.
I choose to forgive them and put my unforgiveness under Your blood Jesus Christ. I repent of my unforgiveness and come out of agreement with all unforgiveness. I renounce my unforgiveness, it has no hold on me. I break the curse of unforgiveness.
I confess of all anger, rage, envy, jealousy, hatred and bitterness associated with unforgiveness. I repent of these sins and come out of agreement with these sins and fouls spirits. They have no hold on me. All curses and contracts are canceled and declared null and void by the blood of Jesus Christ. I go to the root of these sins, all the way back in my bloodline and cancel them. Satan has no hold on me, all legal rights are canceled. I bless those who hurt me and sinned against me, in the name of Jesus Christ.
I cut every ungodly relationship bond and tie with those who hurt me and declare them severed. I give back what is theirs and take back what is mine. I keep all godly relationship bonds, in the name of Jesus Christ.
I confess my sin of shame and unforgiveness towards myself. Forgive me Jesus for not believing You forgave me, and for not believing Your finished work on the cross was enough. I repent of these sins. 1 Peter 5:7 tells me to cast all my cares on You because You care for me. I give you all my cares. Forgive me for not trusting You and giving You my burden. I break the curse of unforgiveness and shame towards myself. I come out of agreement with it and cancel all debts and contracts in the name of Jesus Christ.
I forgive myself for _____________ (state if specific event if needed)
I choose to forgive myself and bless myself in the name of Jesus Christ.
God I ask you to remove any pain or sickness _______________ associated with this sin. I cast it out now in the name of Jesus Christ.
