Goal – Understand God is a God of order, not chaos. All things are under His control and authority. Whatever is happening is permitted by God
- Fact or fiction – Satan, demonic forces, evil spirits are not allowed in God’s presence
- Fact or fiction – Satan and demonic forces can’t say the name of Jesus Christ, Son of Father God

Hebrew and Greek Terms / Definitions
- has demanded #G1809 “exaiteo” to demand for trial, to require/request permission; for torture or punishment
- sift #G4617 “siniazo” to sift / shake; by inward agitation to try one’s faith; the only time it is used is in Luke 22:31
- we are disciplined #G3811 “paideuo” to train children, to chastise, correct, to chasten by the afflictions of evil and calamities, to chastise w/ blows
This lesson does not cover all the reasons/purposes God allows evil to occur – that is a much deeper topic for multiple sessions. Earlier sessions in 2026 Freedom Track lessons teach on some the reasons / purposes about why God grants permission for evil and demonization.

No chaos allowed
All things in the natural and spiritual realm are under God’s laws
Matt 28:18-20 ESV – “18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Col 1:16-17 ESV – “16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Phil 2:9-11 ESV – “9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Job 1:6-10, 12 ESV – “6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan (OT the Accuser / NT prince of evil spirits) also came among them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 8 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” 9 Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? 10 Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. … 12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.”
- God has put all things in place to operate under His laws. We see this in the natural world with the “scientific and natural laws” put in place holding all things together – matter, gravity, motion, all life on earth
- The spiritual realm operates by spiritual laws. Satan and his forces aren’t permitted to do as they please
- The “Accuser” could not touch anything unless permitted by God
Breaking through false paradigms
God’s word is Truth – yes Satan / demonic forces can be in God’s presence…, and say “Jesus Christ”
1 Kings 22:19-24 ESV – “19 And Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing beside him on his right hand and on his left; 20 and the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said one thing, and another said another. 21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, saying, ‘I will entice him.’ 22 And the LORD said to him, ‘By what means?’ And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.‘ 23 Now therefore behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the LORD has declared disaster for you.” 24 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “How did the Spirit of the LORD go from me to speak to you?””
Luke 4:3, 10-13 ESV – “3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” … 10 for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ 11 and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'” 12 And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.‘” 13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.”
Acts 19:13-15 ESV – “13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” 14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. 15 But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?”
James 2:19 ESV – “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe–and shudder!”
- Based on God’s word – we see both holy and fallen angels report to God
- Satan presented himself before Jesus Christ to tempt Jesus – in God the Son’s presence
- God permitted the evil spirit access to the human “ungodly prophets”
- Demons know and say Jesus Christ’s name
- Don’t be fooled, they know our names too
God allows the access
To all of His creation…, believers too
2 Cor 12:6-9 ESV – “6 though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me. 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Rev 2:10 ESV – “Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
1 Sam 16:14-15 ESV – “14 Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a harmful spirit from the LORD tormented him. 15 And Saul’s servants said to him, “Behold now, a harmful spirit from God is tormenting you.”
Luke 22:2-3, 31-34 ESV – “2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people. 3 Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. … 31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” 34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”
1 Cor 11:30-32 ESV – “30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. 31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.”
- Jesus is talking to believers in Smyrna – for God’s purposes
- Paul, a Christian – an apostle – doing holy miracles was afflicted – allowed by God for His purposes
- Jesus granted permission to Peter – an apostle – Satan “demanded for trial” to sift
- King Saul was tormented by an evil spirit God put in Saul for his rebellion/disobedience and pride
Discussion topics for you this week at home or with others regarding Satan / demonic forces: 1) Have you ever thought about how Satan gets permission from God? 2) Have these truths in God’s word changed how you think about interactions between God and fallen angels? 3) Discuss how we have direct access to God’s throne as His sons / daughters – for God’s good purposes for our life
Last thoughts and considerations
- All things are under God’s control – it’s not chaos
- All things aren’t the devil or demons, our own decisions matter too
- When you advance God’s Kingdom against Satan’s kingdom, expect resistance
- Satan and demonic forces must be granted permission by God
- God uses demons for His purposes
- You as an adopted son / daughter of Father God have direct access to God’s throne

1 Cor 15:27-28 ESV – “27 For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. 28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.”
